So this is a classic and we should all know this one. However, if for some reason this laugh-out-loud, feel good rom-com missed you by, you can rectify the error this weekend. We really implore you to cosy up with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in Notting Hill.

Can the most famous film star in the world fall for just an ordinary guy?

- PolyGram Filmed Entertainment

Described as ‘one of the best romantic comedies’ by Julia’s agent at the time, Notting Hill is an absolute gem of a film. Writer, Richard Curtis(Four Weddings and a Funeral) is a genius (Julia even said so herself) creates an effortlessly real scenario of an ordinary guy meeting and falling in love with an extraordinary woman. William Thacker (Hugh Grant) is a self deprecating, travel book store owner, whose wife left him for his best friend and whose business is fairing less than well. His group of friends are on a somewhat similar playing field - not quite succeeding, and getting by with help from each other, alcohol and humour. All this changes when Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) enters Thacker’s bookstore and purchases a book. What ensues is an endearingly romance that one couldn’t imagine could be possible, considering Scott’s calibre and Thackers self plight. Following their journey throughout the film evokes a longing for a similar love by the viewer. And did we mention how funny it is? Seriously, this film is SO witty and the lines delivered, particularly by Grant and the British cast are just perfection. Honourable mention to Thacker’s one staff member Martin (James Dreyfus)for being that guy who always mistakes actors in films for others. A second mention to the excellent birthday party scene for Thacker’s sister,(Emma Chambers), that is superbly played by all actors involved. You are definitely going to laugh and feel loved this weekend after this watch. :-)

Notting Hill can be watched on Netflix! It can also be rented on Google Play for £2.49 (*price correct at time of posting)
